Center for Integrated Earth System Information (CIESIN)

The Center for Integrated Earth System Information (CIESIN) collaborates with the European Commission's Joint Research Centre, Meta, the German Space Agency, GRID3 Inc, WorldPop, and a number of other groups on population and settlement data products.

For more than 30 years, CIESIN managed the NASA Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC), which supported the development of the Gridded Population of the World (GPW), Global Rural-Urban Mapping Project (GRUMP), and a number of other flagship population, settlement, and infrastructure data products. CIESIN was also a founding partner and manager of GRID3, which has since transitioned to an independent non-profit organization known for its foundational settlement, boundaries, infrastructure, and population data across Africa.
